Job Description

Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human

Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.

This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.

We are seeking an Architect to define and drive the long-term technical direction for our Integration Pillar. This pillar is the backbone of Okta’s extensibility, empowering advanced builders and partners to seamlessly build robust connectors and integrations on top of our platform. In this role, your sphere of influence will span multiple teams up to the pillar level. You will not only outline solutions but proactively identify broad, open-ended problems worth solving to meaningfully advance Okta’s integration capabilities.

You are a strategic technical leader who remains grounded in execution. You will balance high-level strategic planning with a hands-on understanding of developer experience (DX) and distributed systems, serving as a developer of future leaders and a key partner to Product and Engineering executives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify broad, ambiguous challenges. Partner with leadership to define the long-term technical roadmap.
  • Design highly available, scalable systems for open-ended platform challenges. Break down complex extensibility requirements into a clear, executable architecture that multiple engineering teams can build upon.
  • Reduce technical chaos across the pillar. Anticipate scaling bottlenecks and third-party API limits, and build foundational tools that enable internal teams and partners to build connectors faster and more safely.
  • Align Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) to execute massive platform initiatives. Act as the technical authority to decide whether to take an iterative or holistic approach to complex integration problems.
  • Manage pillar-wide technical risks (like third-party data syncing or rate limits). Step in to lead the resolution of complex, cross-system incidents and set long-term standards for observability and reliability.
  • Develop the next generation of technical leaders. Conduct broad architectural reviews for new connectors, teach others how to mentor, and drive a culture of engineering excellence across the entire Integration pillar.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience & Scope: 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of operating at an Architect or Principal level where your
