Applied AI Engineer, CyberSecurity

About the Role

Mistral is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build production-ready cybersecurity solutions powered by agentic AI systems. You will transform prototype agents into deployed services that clients rely on, composing red-team and blue-team workflows while configuring harnesses for real-world security scenarios including cloud defense, vulnerability scanning, dynamic red-teaming, and penetration testing.

Responsibilities

• Compose and deploy red-team and blue-team agentic workflows for production cybersecurity use-cases
• Configure harnesses for cloud defense, vulnerability scanning, dynamic red-teaming, and penetration testing scenarios
• Design and implement context engineering that enables agents to operate effectively across cybersecurity domains
• Orchestrate multi-agent systems for complex security workflows and translate client security requirements into agentic solutions
• Build the agentic layer between harnesses and client-facing services
• Ship fast and iterate based on client feedback and real-world performance data
• Collaborate with pentesters to ensure domain accuracy and with software engineers to ensure platform support for use-case requirements
• Operate independently while leveraging internal frameworks and building blocks

Requirements

• Strong applied AI engineering background with hands-on experience building agents, LLM orchestration, context engineering, evals, and RAG systems
• Demonstrated ability to ship quickly with a bias toward action and delivery
• Independent operator with a customer-led mindset
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills
• Some cybersecurity context is valuable but not required—domain pairing with pentesters is available

Preferred qualifications:

• Genuine cybersecurity or penetration testing knowledge
• End-to-end experience building agentic harnesses or multi-agent systems
• Strong background in evals and benchmarking of agent systems
• Experience with security tooling or security workflows
• Prior work on production AI systems in regulated or high-stakes environments
