Pentester, Offensive Forward Deployment Engineer

About the Role

Mistral AI is seeking experienced pentesters to join the Offensive Security team. You will conduct penetration testing engagements for enterprise clients while simultaneously hunting vulnerabilities in Mistral's own systems and contributing to the development of AI-powered offensive security capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Client Engagements: Scope, execute, and deliver penetration testing using Mistral's offensive security solution; triage findings to eliminate false positives; advise clients on remediation; travel to client sites and manage multiple engagements in standard consulting cadence
• Internal Security Testing: Pentest Mistral's infrastructure and systems; identify vulnerabilities in internal networks, Active Directory, and cloud environments; hunt for vulnerabilities on open-source and public targets between client work; transfer findings to the internal security team
• AI-Powered Offensive Security Development: Leverage hands-on pentesting expertise to guide the offensive security harness; validate and triage AI-generated findings; benchmark human versus automated performance; contribute technical input to AI offensive capabilities

Requirements

• Primary expertise in web application security and source-code review
• Ability to independently manage penetration testing engagements from scoping through delivery
• Senior-level experience with a proven track record of high-quality penetration testing results
• Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail in vulnerability identification
• Client-facing communication skills; willingness to travel and manage shifting priorities across engagements
• Practical, nuanced understanding of AI capabilities and limitations in security workflows
• Preferred: Experience with internal/Active Directory testing, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), CI/CD and supply-chain security, custom offensive tooling development, published CVEs or bug-bounty accomplishments, code review across multiple programming languages, experience securing AI/ML systems, or open-source security contributions
