Senior Manager, AI Corporate Engineering

Vanta is hiring a Senior Manager, AI Corporate Engineering to direct its Corporate Engineering team on a remote U.S. basis. The position owns the shared AI platform layer that supports identity, access, cost controls, tooling governance, and internal application infrastructure for a company offering a Trust Management Platform. The role defines platform scope, leads a small senior team, and coordinates with Engineering, GRC, Security, Data, Finance, and People functions as AI usage expands company-wide.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the charter that specifies what Corporate Engineering owns versus enables for internal AI systems.
• Manage the full AI access layer, including identity and authentication, connector allowlisting, tiered permissions, and guardrails.
• Implement AI cost engineering practices such as usage attribution to teams and individuals, model right-sizing, agent spend traceability, and budget thresholds with Finance.
• Oversee the MCP layer for internal tools, covering commissioning, decommissioning, governance, and pre-migration impact assessments.
• Maintain the paved path for internal applications, including golden-path deployment patterns, private-by-default settings, lifecycle policies, and build-versus-buy frameworks.
• Develop the enablement layer, including a skills and agent registry, evaluation frameworks for internal AI usage, and technical guidance on sanctioned tools.
• Establish cross-functional forums to coordinate departmental AI efforts and reduce duplication.
• Coordinate with partner organizations on levers that reside outside Corporate Engineering, such as security policy and data platform decisions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or systems engineering.
• 3+ years of experience managing and developing engineers, preferably at a company that scaled through a significant headcount increase.
• Prior experience standing up an internal AI or developer platform function, including writing the initial charter, defining intake processes, and building the roadmap from a blank page.
• Demonstrated fluency in AI cost engineering, including usage attribution, model right-sizing, token economics, and agent cost traceability.
• Hands-on technical depth in LLM platform tooling, agent and MCP architecture, identity and OAuth, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience applying data governance in a regulated environment, including identification of data that must not enter prompts, repositories, or third-party tools.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
