Forward Deployed Engineering Lead

Doppel is a Series C startup developing an AI-native platform for social engineering defense, including detection of phishing, impersonation, and fraud across digital channels. The Forward Deployed Engineering Lead position is based in New York and oversees a team that deploys the platform at large enterprises, builds security stack integrations, and converts field learnings into product features. The role operates at the intersection of engineering, product, and go-to-market functions with an evolving charter.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the forward deployed engineering team, including setting technical direction, unblocking projects, and remaining hands-on with both code and customer work.
• Own the enterprise integration portfolio covering SIEM/SOAR connectors such as Splunk, Sentinel, and Cortex XSOAR, along with ticketing tools, custom webhooks, and email ecosystem integrations.
• Manage enterprise identity integrations including SSO, SCIM provisioning, and IDP sync with providers such as Okta and Entra, plus troubleshooting of OAuth and SAML issues.
• Act as the senior technical contact in strategic enterprise deals by scoping integrations prior to sale, reducing deployment risks, and enabling rapid customer go-live.
• Convert one-off customer implementations into reusable platform capabilities and reduce the cost of subsequent integrations.
• Expand the team charter into areas such as AI-powered automations, go-to-market tooling, and internal workflows that shorten onboarding timelines.
• Define team boundaries as new products launch by determining what the team builds, hands off, or declines, while coordinating projects across engineering, product, sales, and customer success.
• Establish standards for documentation, dashboards, and deployment practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience building production applications, with Python preferred, including at least 2 years in a forward deployed, solutions engineering, or customer-facing engineering role.
• Experience leading engineers while continuing to ship code personally.
• Deep experience with enterprise integrations including OAuth, SAML, SCIM, IDP sync, webhooks, SIEM/SOAR platforms, and REST APIs.
• Track record of converting bespoke customer implementations into reusable product or platform capabilities.
• Experience operating in organizations undergoing rapid growth and structural change.
• Familiarity with AI application development, LLM APIs, or workflow automation.
