Job Description

This is the Director of Plant Operations role at Franciscan Ministries in Homer Glen, IL. The position directs plant operations, maintenance, transportation, and security functions for the community while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The role also includes oversight of capital and construction projects, with limited off-site travel required for meetings. The salary range is $90,000 to $100,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, develop, implement, and direct the maintenance department and its programs and activities.
  • Perform the majority of repair and replacement of systems and equipment internally as a hands-on manager.
  • Manage and oversee all capital projects to ensure timely completion and compliance with safety, state, and federal regulations.
  • Serve as liaison to contractors, vendors, and the corporate office.
  • Identify and recommend capital needs to the Executive Director.
  • Prepare and maintain the department budget.
  • Direct and oversee safety, security, fire protection, and prevention programs in accordance with company policy and state, federal, county, and OSHA regulations.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance functions and assign personnel to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Direct and oversee the campus transportation program, including scheduling, vehicle maintenance, and personnel supervision.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement universal precautions and waste disposal policies and procedures to maintain a sanitary environment and ensure aseptic and isolation techniques are followed.
  • Monitor and manage construction projects through completion, including representing the community at meetings with local officials and governing agencies.
  • Track project budgets and maintain project files.
  • Review payment applications, change orders, and invoices as needed.
  • Anticipate and expedite requests for input in design and construction.
  • Review plans and specifications prior to the bidding process.
  • Review submittals of project components.
  • Coordinate and assist in the procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required.
  • Universal HVAC certification required; additional technical certifications or licenses preferred.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a maintenance, plant operations, or construction-related field.
  • Ability to read and analyze blueprints, diagrams, and complex instruction and maintenance manuals.
  • Limited travel off-site may be required for meetings.
