The Cook role at Franciscan Village - OLV Convent supports meal preparation and service for residents in a community setting operated by Franciscan Ministries in Lemont, IL. The position covers daily food production, storage, presentation, and compliance activities within the kitchen. Work occurs on a schedule that aligns with resident meal service needs and includes an hourly pay range of $22.00 to $25.00.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items each day according to posted menus, modifying recipes as needed to address special dietary requirements or improve quality.
• Plate meals with attention to visual presentation before service.
• Coordinate and assist with serving, applying portion control to fulfill resident requests while reducing waste.
• Track chargeable meals for residents, guests, and catered events, then submit monthly records to the office by the required deadline.
• Contribute to menu planning by reviewing and updating menus with the Dietary Manager to reflect seasonal items, vendor pricing, special events, and holidays.
• Identify food and supply needs for upcoming menus and report requirements to the Dietary Manager.
• Portion and store delivered meats with proper handling, labeling, and rotation.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organized, safe, and sanitary at all times.
• Follow all applicable food service regulations during operations.
• Train additional kitchen staff on food preparation procedures as assigned.
• Carry out other tasks as directed by management.
• Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, including any updates.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• ServSafe certification.
• At least one year of professional cooking experience.

Benefits

• Hourly compensation between $22.00 and $25.00.
