Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician role at Franciscan Ministries in Homer Glen, IL, supports a senior living community through ongoing repair and upkeep of resident units, grounds, and common areas. The position operates within established safety and infection control protocols and coordinates with nursing staff on isolation procedures as needed. Work follows a maintenance schedule with both routine and unscheduled tasks, at an hourly rate of $26.00 to $29.00.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety protocols while carrying out maintenance tasks.
• Keep the facility and surrounding areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
• Immediately notify a supervisor of any incidents, accidents, hazards, or equipment defects.
• Return work areas to a clean state and properly store all tools and supplies before moving to the next assignment.
• Maintain hazard-free workspaces and follow all safety regulations continuously.
• Apply infection control and universal precautions during maintenance work.
• Coordinate isolation cleaning procedures with nursing staff for resident rooms.
• Complete assigned work orders within expected time frames.
• Follow the maintenance schedule and instructions provided by the supervisor in line with facility policies.
• Perform grounds care including mowing, trimming, and sweeping of parking areas and driveways.
• Conduct repairs and routine servicing on plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and plastering systems throughout the facility.
• Replace burned-out bulbs in exit signs, overhead fixtures, fluorescent lights, and resident call lights.
• Service heating and cooling equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and facility procedures.
• Handle additional maintenance requests as directed by the supervisor.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by management.
• Follow all current facility policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of general maintenance experience.
• Mechanical ability to perform work on plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
