Director of Mission Integration & Pastoral Care

The Director of Mission Integration and Pastoral Care position is with Franciscan Ministries, a faith-based Catholic ministry sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, located in West Lafayette, IN. The role serves on the community Leadership Team, convenes the Ethics Committee, and chairs the Mission Team while providing spiritual and religious support to residents, families, and staff in a long-term care setting. Salary range is $65,000 to $80,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Lead education and formation efforts on mission, values, ethics, and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
• Plan, develop, organize, direct, and evaluate the Mission Integration and Pastoral Care department, including budget development, management, and expense tracking.
• Serve as Pastoral Minister and Chaplain by providing pastoral care during crises, trauma, and decision-making situations.
• Conduct initial visits and spiritual assessments for all residents, followed by ongoing visits as appropriate.
• Organize religious services, Spiritual Wellness programs, and schedule priests and ministers to meet resident population needs.
• Facilitate the Spiritual Life and Worship Committee and coordinate with local pastors, congregations, and community groups.
• Implement Mission orientation and ongoing education programs, including Living Joyfully initiatives assigned to the department.
• Provide departmental reports, benchmarks, statistics, and analysis as required.
• Coordinate funeral and bereavement ministry and serve as the point person for Community Benefit reporting.
• Manage daily Mass across liturgical seasons, including scheduling priests, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and music.
• Lead the pastoral volunteer program and maintain the chapel environment according to the Church liturgical year.
• Facilitate spiritual enrichment opportunities such as Bible studies, grief support, and programs on the spirituality of aging.
• Ensure continued connections between residents and their personal faith communities while collaborating with area faith groups.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in religious studies, mission leadership, or related field.
• Certification by a pastoral agency preferred.
• One unit of CPE preferred.
• Three to five or more years of experience as a long-term pastoral minister or chaplain.
• Knowledge of and support for the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services.
