Cook

The Cook role at Franciscan Ministries is a part-time weekend position at a residential community in Lindenhurst, Illinois. Two Friday-and-Saturday schedules are offered: 5:00am-1:30pm or 7:00am-3:30pm. The position prepares and serves meals to community residents at 1055 E Grand Ave.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food daily according to menus, modifying recipes as needed for special dietary requirements or recipe improvements.
• Present food attractively on plates prior to service.
• Serve meals while monitoring portion sizes to fulfill resident requests and reduce waste.
• Track chargeable meals for residents, guests, and catered events, then submit monthly records to the office.
• Assist with menu planning by reviewing and adjusting selections with the Dietary Manager for seasonal items, vendor pricing, special events, and holidays.
• Identify food and supply needs for upcoming menus and report them to the Dietary Manager.
• Portion and store delivered meats with proper handling, labeling, and storage procedures.
• Keep the kitchen clean, orderly, safe, and sanitary at all times.
• Follow all applicable regulations for food service operations.
• Train other kitchen staff on food preparation tasks.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned and adhere to all updated policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• ServSafe certification
• Minimum of one year of cooking experience

• Hourly pay range of $18.00 to $23.00
