Job Description

The Chef Manager In Training role at Belmont Village Senior Living Corporate is a 6-month paid rotational program based in San Diego, California. Participants complete the program at one of the company's assisted living and memory care communities under direct mentorship from an experienced Chef Manager Preceptor. The training combines on-the-job shadowing, skills checklists, online modules, and leadership assessments, with successful completion leading to eligibility for Chef Manager positions at Belmont Village locations nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Complete hands-on rotations across all aspects of the food service program in high-volume senior living dining operations
  • Develop and execute recipe-based meal preparation while maintaining hospitality standards
  • Manage and lead food service team members under preceptor guidance
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for food service operations
  • Participate in monthly meetings, self-evaluations, and progress reports with the Program Administrator and Executive Director Preceptor

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Minimum 2 years of food service experience, preferably in à la carte or banquet service
  • Experience with food service Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, basic computer troubleshooting, internet navigation, and video conferencing
  • Ability to work flexible schedules in a 24-hour operation, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal English
  • Willingness to relocate to any Belmont Village market for the first Chef Manager assignment upon program completion
