HarmonyCares is a national value-based provider of in-home primary care services for patients with complex healthcare needs, operating practices across 14 states with headquarters in Troy, Michigan. The Senior Actuarial Analyst supports the Actuarial Finance function with focus on Value-Based Care performance recognition and analysis. The position is based in the United States and partners with finance, clinical, and strategy teams to deliver forecasting, trend analysis, and performance reporting for senior leadership.
Responsibilities
Analyze, forecast, and recognize Value-Based Care membership, revenue, and medical expense while assessing trend drivers, utilization patterns, and emerging risks.
Design, build, and maintain actuarial and financial models for trend projections, forecasting, VBC performance tracking, and risk arrangement evaluation.
Convert complex modeling outputs and data analyses into executive-level summaries, financial commentary, and performance narratives.
Collaborate with actuarial, finance, clinical, and strategy teams to align analytical findings with business context and operational realities.
Develop data tools that stratify large datasets across financial, utilization, quality, and outcomes dimensions.
Communicate findings to stakeholders at varying technical levels, adjusting depth and framing as needed.
Build repeatable, automated analytical workflows using scripting, templated models, and AI-assisted tools to improve accuracy and scalability.
Identify and implement process improvements through automation, standardization, or AI augmentation while preserving transparency, controls, and documentation.
Create trusted performance narratives that support senior leadership decision-making.
Reduce cycle time and manual effort for recurring VBC performance analyses through process improvement and automation.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative field.
5+ years of experience in an actuarial, analytical, or finance role within a team-based environment.
5+ years of experience in managed care, healthcare, or a related regulated industry.
Strong analytical and modeling skills using Excel or comparable tools.
Strong data analysis skills using SQL, SAS, R, Python, or comparable tools.
Demonstrated experience automating recurring analytical work, models, or reporting processes.
Experience synthesizing quantitative results into clear written and verbal explanations for non-technical audiences.
Comfort preparing executive-level summaries that distinguish modeled results, interpretation, and judgment.
Experience supporting Value-Based Care, ACOs, MA, MSSP, or other risk-based reimbursement models (preferred).
Practical experience using AI-enabled tools to support analysis, interpretation, documentation, or narrative development with appropriate validation (preferred).
ASA or higher actuarial credential (preferred).

Compensation range of $110,000–$130,000 per year, with individual packages determined by skill set, experience, and qualifications.
