Sous Chef

This Sous Chef position is with Belmont Village Senior Living at its senior living community in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. The role operates Sunday through Thursday from 9:30am to 6pm in a commercial kitchen serving residents and guests. The position involves supervision of kitchen operations in the Chef Manager's absence along with scratch meal preparation using company recipes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise kitchen and dining room staff and food production when the Chef Manager is absent
• Prepare meals from scratch following assigned recipe specifications and quality standards
• Follow recipes, manage portion control, and ensure attractive plate presentation
• Manage cook times while preparing and handling multiple orders simultaneously
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen in compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures
• Follow checklists and company procedures to keep the kitchen stocked and well maintained

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience in a high-volume restaurant setting with supervisory responsibilities
• Proven advanced culinary skills including knife handling, food preparation, and presentation
• Ability to work assigned shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Successful completion of State and Federal criminal background check, drug screen, job-related physical, and TB test required for employment
