This interim Executive Sous Chef position is with Belmont Village Senior Living Corporate in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The role operates in a luxury senior living community that provides Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. It involves direct collaboration with the Chef Manager, front-of-house, and back-of-house teams in a state-of-the-art kitchen and restaurant-style dining room, with support from regional and corporate teams and a requirement for a flexible schedule based on dining program needs.
Responsibilities
Oversee food service operations and staff scheduling in the absence of the Chef Manager to maintain compliance, quality, and productivity.
Ensure consistency with standardized recipes and company guidelines while planning menus for special events.
Complete weekly food orders, prepare meals as required, and create daily production schedules.
Train staff on safety protocols, food handling procedures, and kitchen cleanliness standards while applying policies consistently.
Participate in interviewing, hiring, coaching, training, scheduling, and task delegation for culinary team members.
Coordinate with community leadership, regional teams, and corporate support to meet organizational objectives.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of cooking experience with progressive responsibility in a restaurant, hotel, or high-volume environment.
Minimum 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience.
College, technical school, or training in food management or culinary arts preferred.
Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written English.
Ability to work a flexible schedule as required by the dining program.
Demonstrated use of MS Office and POS systems in a work setting.
