Memory Care Director

The Memory Care Director serves as the operational leader and dementia subject matter expert for the Memory Care neighborhood at Belmont Village Senior Living in Nashville, Tennessee. This senior living community provides Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care programs for older adults with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. The role oversees dementia programming, resident engagement, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and daily leadership of Memory Care caregivers and Dementia Activity Leaders, supported by regional and corporate partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the Memory Care neighborhood, including resident care, dementia programming, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.
• Provide education, coaching, and support on dementia care to team members, residents, and family members.
• Recruit, hire, schedule, coach, develop, and lead Memory Care caregivers and Dementia Activity Leaders.
• Conduct cognitive assessments for prospective and current residents and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on individualized care plans and programming.
• Ensure delivery of evidence-based Alzheimer's and dementia programs that support cognitive wellness, independence, dignity, and quality of life.
• Partner with the Executive Director, Director of Resident Care Services, regional leaders, and corporate partners on quality assurance, staffing, resident satisfaction, and operational performance.
• Monitor program quality, resident participation, staffing effectiveness, and department performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Maintain compliance with state regulations, company policies, Memory Care standards, and staff training requirements.
• Build relationships with residents and families through education, communication, and support during the dementia journey.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Psychology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• Three years of experience as a Memory Care Director, Dementia Program Director, Memory Care Manager, or comparable leadership role within a large Assisted Living, Memory Care, or senior living community.
• Experience managing, scheduling, and developing large teams of caregivers and Memory Care staff in a healthcare or senior living environment.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, cognitive engagement, behavioral interventions specific to dementia, and person-centered programming.
• Experience conducting resident assessments and partnering with interdisciplinary care teams to develop individualized service plans.
• Proficient use of technology in the workplace.
• Ability to work flexible schedules in a 24-hour operation, including weekends as needed.
