Registered Nurse (RN)

This is a part-time Registered Nurse position at Franciscan Ministries in Lemont, Illinois. The role covers a PM shift from 2pm to 10:30pm for approximately 35 hours over a two-week period, including every other weekend, and focuses on direct nursing care for Sisters in the infirmary while supervising certified nursing assistants and resident care associates. Pay is $35.00 per hour with a $1.00 per hour differential for 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily activities of certified nursing assistants and resident care associates according to federal, state, and local regulations plus established policies and procedures.
• Apply the nursing model to deliver holistic care for residents.
• Verify that assigned nursing personnel follow all applicable policies and procedures.
• Handle resident admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed.
• Assess changes in resident status, notify the physician and family or representative, and document findings.
• Transcribe physician orders into the medical record and implement them as written.
• Prepare and administer medications per physician orders while monitoring for adverse effects.
• Perform wound treatments per physician orders, observe changes, and document results.
• Arrange follow-up appointments and transportation for residents.
• Provide nursing leadership to personnel assigned to the unit.
• Deliver direct care including colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, and IV administration in line with current policies.
• Conduct rounds to confirm resident needs are met and staff complete assigned duties.
• Work with the interdisciplinary team to address residents' holistic needs.
• Report incidents or unusual occurrences to the leadership team.
• Maintain adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment and notify appropriate personnel of shortages.
• Initiate, review, and update care plans as required.
• Participate in the survey process during inspections.
• Support QAPI activities when assigned.
• Apply infection control principles and correct any deficiencies identified.
• Report allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation, exploitation, or mistreatment to the supervisor or administrator.
• Complete additional duties as assigned and follow all updated policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state.
• At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in geriatrics.
