Registered Nurse (RN)

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is with Franciscan Ministries at a senior living community in Chicago, IL. The role involves providing direct nursing care to residents while supervising certified nursing assistants and resident care associates. Responsibilities

• Direct daily activities of certified nursing assistants and resident care associates according to federal, state, and local regulations plus facility policies.
• Apply the nursing model to deliver holistic resident care.
• Verify compliance with policies and procedures by assigned nursing staff.
• Handle resident admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed.
• Monitor changes in resident status, notify the physician and family or representative, and document findings.
• Transcribe physician orders into the medical record and implement them as written.
• Administer medications per physician orders and monitor for adverse effects.
• Perform wound treatments per physician orders, observe changes, and document results.
• Arrange follow-up appointments and transportation for residents.
• Provide nursing leadership to unit personnel.
• Deliver direct care including colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, and IV administration per current policies.
• Conduct rounds to confirm resident needs are met and staff complete assigned duties.
• Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to address resident needs.
• Report incidents or unusual occurrences to the leadership team.
• Maintain adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment and notify appropriate staff of shortages.
• Initiate, review, and update care plans as required.
• Participate in survey processes during inspections.
• Support QAPI activities when assigned.
• Apply infection control principles and correct any identified deficiencies.
• Report allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation, exploitation, or mistreatment to the supervisor or administrator.
• Complete additional duties as assigned and follow all updated policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state.
• At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in geriatrics.
