Field Chief Information Security Officer (Field CISO)

About the Role

Vanta is seeking a Field CISO to serve as a strategic security advisor and customer-facing leader who bridges the company's internal security expertise with external stakeholders. This leadership position combines deep cybersecurity knowledge with go-to-market execution, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer while driving enterprise customer engagement and contributing to Vanta's internal security strategy.

Responsibilities

Customer & Market Engagement

• Act as a trusted security thought leader in customer meetings, supporting sales, customer success, and partnership teams through late-stage deal cycles
• Lead C-suite security briefings to address risk concerns and build customer confidence in Vanta's platform and roadmap
• Own quota-attached executive engagement aligned with regional vice presidents and account executives to drive late-stage conversion and account expansion
• Participate in weekly forecast calls to identify and resolve security-related blockers impeding deal progression
• Communicate Vanta's product vision and roadmap to technical and executive decision-makers
• Develop close plans with account executives and establish security evaluation criteria for late-stage opportunities
• Lead competitive positioning; provide field teams with security battlecards and objection-handling strategies
• Generate pipeline through security-led executive roundtables, CISO councils, and partner initiatives
• Deliver presentations, webinars, and thought leadership content at industry conferences, analyst events, and media engagements

Internal Security Leadership

• Provide field insights to inform Vanta's product roadmap and security priorities
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate customer-relevant security features
• Mentor internal teams on emerging security trends and customer concerns

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Align closely with go-to-market leadership to accelerate enterprise growth initiatives
• Contribute to executive briefings, board-level discussions, and industry events as Vanta's security evangelist

Requirements

• 10+ years in security leadership roles (CISO, Deputy CISO, or equivalent advisory position)
• Strong understanding of compliance frameworks including SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and FedRAMP
• Exceptional ability to communicate and tell compelling security stories to both executive and technical audiences
• Proven track record translating complex security concepts for business stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience supporting or collaborating with go-to-market teams in customer-facing scenarios
• Success building customer trust through clear communication, credibility, and thought leadership
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfort presenting to customers, partners, and at industry events
• Familiarity with SaaS, cloud-native environments, and AI-driven technologies highly desirable
• Extensive professional network of security leaders built on established reputation and prior experience
• Openness to leveraging AI to enhance skills and work quality, with sound judgment in responsible application
