About the Role
Chainguard is seeking a Senior Security Engineer for its Cyber Resiliency team to strengthen the organization's security operations and incident response capabilities. You'll collaborate across teams to build and maintain technical controls, threat detection systems, and security automation that protect the company and support its mission of securing the open source ecosystem. This remote position includes rotational on-call responsibilities with a reasonable, team-shared workload.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and optimize technical controls to detect and prevent security incidents
- Engineer custom detection logic, integrate threat intelligence feeds, and build automation using SOAR and AI-driven security operations playbooks
- Lead and contribute to incident response efforts, including tabletop exercises and security simulations
- Conduct threat hunts using forensic data and threat intelligence to identify potential risks
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to embed security best practices into systems and workflows
- Stay current with the threat landscape through continuous research and professional development
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development, information security, IT engineering, or a combination thereof
- Strong technical investigative mindset and incident response experience
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native and endpoint security operations
- Cloud forensics and incident response knowledge
- Proficiency with automation in Go, Python, or Shell scripting
- Experience securing cloud environments
- Familiarity with macOS or Linux systems
- Threat intelligence competency
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams independently
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Security, or Information Systems preferred but not required
- Offensive security or open-source software development experience is a plus

Base Salary Range: $130,000–$150,000 USD
