Engineering Manager, Core Platform

About the Role

Vanta's Core Platform team provides the foundational infrastructure powering all engineering across the company. As Engineering Manager for Core Platform, you'll lead the teams responsible for shared services infrastructure, observability and monitoring, datastore management, and async work systems. This role combines technical architecture leadership with team development, requiring you to balance infrastructure reliability, security, and developer productivity as Vanta scales to support enterprise and regulated customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow high-performing platform engineering teams delivering reliable, scalable infrastructure and operational excellence for Vanta's products
• Set technical direction and drive multi-quarter platform initiatives spanning infrastructure reliability, security, scalability, and developer experience across shared systems and services
• Partner with product engineering, security, and engineering leadership to translate infrastructure challenges into clear roadmap priorities and deliver scalable solutions
• Design and evolve internal platforms and abstractions that enable product teams to ship independently, securely, and efficiently without deep infrastructure expertise
• Guide evolution of Vanta's cloud and data infrastructure, including AWS services (ECS, Fargate), MongoDB performance and optimization, and event-driven architecture
• Establish strong engineering culture, operational standards, and ownership practices that empower teams to build and operate healthy systems responsibly

Requirements

• 5+ years managing platform or infrastructure teams at high-growth tech companies
• Prior experience managing multiple teams or multiple charters
• Strong decision-making ability balancing ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality
• Track record of maintaining and scaling shared infrastructure in measurable, concrete ways
• Experience developing or driving engineering-wide initiatives (recruiting processes, career frameworks, etc.)
• Track record managing complex, long-term projects touching multiple teams and cross-functional stakeholders
• Effective communicator and storyteller able to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive technical direction without relying solely on direct authority
• Open to using AI to amplify skills and strengthen work, demonstrating curiosity and sound judgment in responsible AI application
