Engineering Manager - Reporting

About the Role

Vanta is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the newly structured Reporting team, a critical product area within GRC Program Orchestration. This role focuses on evolving Vanta's reporting platform from dashboards into a scalable, AI-powered reporting experience that helps customers understand, visualize, and operationalize their compliance and security programs. You'll operate at the intersection of data products, enterprise scalability, and product innovation, shaping engineering execution and technical direction for one of Vanta's key strategic investments.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale a high-performing team of 8-12+ engineers through strategic hiring, coaching, and development while raising the engineering bar
• Drive execution across a multi-quarter roadmap spanning reporting infrastructure, enterprise reporting capabilities, AI-powered insights, and scalable data foundations
• Partner with Product, Design, and Platform teams to define long-term vision and architecture for reporting and data-driven product experiences
• Navigate complex, evolving problem spaces while balancing near-term customer impact with long-term platform investments
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Platform, and business stakeholders to evolve reporting strategy and enterprise data capabilities

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in a full-time engineering management role, managing 8-12+ engineers
• Proven experience managing product engineering teams building reporting or data visualization products
• Strong technical depth, ideally as a former senior or staff engineer, with ability to guide data infrastructure and product architecture decisions
• Demonstrated track record delivering results across multiple workstreams while maintaining quality and team velocity
• Experience setting product and technical strategy in partnership with Product and Design teams
• Experience developing or driving engineering-wide initiatives
• Strong decision-making skills balancing ambiguity, data, speed, and quality
• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and adjacent teams as an effective communicator
• Openness to using AI to amplify skills and strengthen work, with demonstrated curiosity and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly
