Senior Engineering Manager, Guardian

About the Role

As Senior Engineering Manager for Semgrep Guardian, you'll lead the platform team embedding deterministic security analysis directly into the developer workflow—from AI agents and IDEs to editor extensions. Your team owns the integration layer, orchestration, policy engine, and risk API that translate Semgrep's detection engines (SAST, secrets, SCA, malware) into actionable verdicts for developers and agent systems. Success is measured by adoption across Semgrep's products, partner integrations, and developer trust.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product and design to build a roadmap balancing iterative improvements with strategic initiatives
• Schedule and prioritize your team's work across new technology development, internal and external stakeholder needs, and technical quality
• Coach and mentor engineers through regular feedback, performance reviews, and growth conversations
• Create a trust-based environment that encourages creativity, calculated risk-taking, and ownership
• Grow the team by recruiting diverse, high-performing technical talent

Requirements

• 3+ years leading software engineering teams
• Strong foundation in product development and multi-disciplinary delivery to production, including design collaboration, milestone planning, and customer feedback integration
• Familiarity with agile development and iterative milestone practices
• Demonstrated commitment to coaching and mentoring engineers and peers
• Experience with platform APIs, SDKs, developer tooling, IDE/editor extensions, AI agent or MCP integrations, or application security products (preferred)

Benefits

• Base salary: $230,000–$288,000 USD, determined by skills, experience, qualifications, location, and market data
