About the Role
Prophet Security is building an AI-native security operations platform designed to accelerate detection, investigation, and response for security teams. As Senior Engineering Manager for the Core Product Team, you'll own the technical roadmap for the platform's core investigative features and AI-driven workflows—the features that define how analysts interact with and trust AI-powered threat investigation and response.
About the Company
Prophet Security brings together veterans from Abnormal Security, Expel, Mandiant, and McAfee to reshape how security operations teams scale. The Core Product Team owns the investigative workflows and intelligence capabilities powering Prophet's AI SOC agent, from initial alert triage through complex multi-stage threat hunting.
Responsibilities
- Build and grow a high-performing product engineering team, owning hiring, culture alignment, and raising technical standards
- Maintain hands-on technical involvement (approximately 25% of your time)—code review, debugging, feature development, and monitoring—to preserve credibility and deep system understanding
- Mentor engineers through regular 1:1s, establish clear career development paths, and support individual growth
- Set clear performance expectations, deliver continuous feedback, and conduct performance reviews that drive engineer development
- Champion operational excellence by defining SLOs, formalizing incident response processes, and embedding continuous improvement practices
- Define and balance the technical roadmap to deliver rapid customer value while advancing the long-term vision of effective AI-driven security analysis
Requirements
- 5+ years as an engineering manager with demonstrated success leading product, full-stack, or AI/ML engineering teams
- Strong technical foundation with hands-on experience building complex software systems, ideally in security, enterprise SaaS, or AI-powered products
- Proven ability to build, scale, and retain high-performing engineering teams through hiring and development
- Deep knowledge of modern software development practices: agile methodologies, DevOps, and continuous delivery
- Excellent communication skills—able to translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with AI tooling and experience enabling teams to follow an AI-native software development lifecycle
- Strong commitment to product quality and customer outcomes, with experience balancing delivery speed against long-term technical excellence
Nice to Have
- Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or agentic workflows
- Background in cybersecurity
- Experience building and scaling teams in fast-paced startup environments, particularly at Series A/B stage
