About the Role
Gen Digital is seeking an AI & Machine Learning Engineer I to join our core ML team, which builds machine learning solutions that drive customer growth, retention, personalization, pricing, recommendations, and long-term value. You will own well-scoped projects end-to-end—from data exploration and model development through validation, deployment, and iteration—while collaborating with experienced engineers and cross-functional partners across product, analytics, and business teams.
Responsibilities
- Own machine learning projects from inception through production, including data exploration, model development, validation, deployment, and continuous improvement.
- Build and refine predictive, recommendation, ranking, segmentation, uplift, and customer-value models to support personalization and decisioning.
- Prepare datasets, define modeling targets, engineer features, and maintain data quality for model training and evaluation.
- Design and analyze A/B tests, holdouts, and offline evaluations to measure model performance and quantify business impact.
- Partner with engineering, product, analytics, and business teams to integrate models into production systems and refine them based on performance and feedback.
- Leverage AI coding assistants, automation, and reusable tools to accelerate model development and analytical workflows.
Requirements
- Two or more years of professional experience in applied machine learning, data science, ML engineering, applied statistics, or a closely related field, with demonstrated success building and evaluating models on real-world data.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including supervised learning, model selection, hyperparameter tuning, evaluation, and performance analysis.
- Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with data platforms such as BigQuery, Spark, or similar tools for data extraction, cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering.
- Experience analyzing behavioral, transactional, product, or customer data and translating insights into actionable recommendations.
- Solid foundation in statistical and analytical reasoning, including A/B testing, holdout design, statistical significance, and business-impact measurement.
- Experience deploying or applying data-driven solutions in collaboration with engineering, product, or analytics teams.
- Familiarity with ML libraries, cloud data or ML platforms, version control, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Demonstrated ownership mindset, proactive problem-solving, and ability to connect technical work to measurable customer and business outcomes.
- Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with personalization, recommendation systems, ranking, uplift modeling, causal inference, contextual bandits, pricing, or lifecycle decisioning is a plus.
- A technical degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is helpful; a Master's or PhD in a quantitative field is beneficial but not required. Equivalent practical experience is equally valued.
