Solutions Engineer

About the Role

WorkOS is a developer platform providing authentication, identity, authorization, and enterprise infrastructure APIs. This Solutions Engineer role bridges engineering, product, and sales—you'll work directly with customers to architect and implement identity and access control solutions, accelerate adoption, and solve real-world problems.

You'll own technical outcomes end-to-end: from discovery and design through implementation and handoff. The position combines customer-facing work with hands-on building—prototypes, integrations, demos, and pragmatic solutions that unblock expansion.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers to design and implement authentication, identity, and authorization solutions using WorkOS products
• Own technical outcomes end-to-end: discovery, architecture, implementation, iteration, and handoff
• Lead demonstrations and proof-of-concept engagements
• Identify technical blockers early, propose solutions, and drive momentum independently
• Partner with Account Executives to support evaluations and account expansion
• Provide structured feedback to Engineering and Product teams based on real-world customer usage

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience building across APIs and web stacks
• Pre-sales or customer engineering experience
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly with both customers and internal teams
• High agency: you identify problems proactively and drive solutions from conception to execution (share examples of projects you've owned or led from 0→1)
• Comfort with fast-paced, startup environments and ambiguous problem spaces
• Curiosity about modern tooling and AI-assisted development workflows
• Bonus: Experience in developer tools, integrations, customer engineering, or technical consulting
