About the Role
Mistral AI is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to drive successful deployment of our AI products with enterprise customers. You'll work across the full customer lifecycle—from pre-sale technical discussions through production implementation—ensuring our solutions deliver measurable business impact in high-stakes industries including finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector.
Responsibilities
- Onboard customers on Mistral products and APIs, providing technical guidance on prompting, evaluation, fine-tuning, and production integration with backend and frontend systems
- Deploy generative AI applications into production across consumer and industrial use cases, from concept through go-live
- Manage customer relationships involving multiple technical and executive stakeholders (CEOs, CTOs, data scientists, software engineers)
- Participate in pre-sales calls to understand client needs, deliver technical product guidance, and explain Mistral technologies to diverse audiences
- Collaborate with research, product, and engineering teams on complex customer projects involving advanced fine-tuning, LLM applications, and open-source contributions
- Translate customer feedback into product and model improvement recommendations for internal teams
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in AI, Machine Learning, or Data Science
- 2+ years as a technical individual contributor (data scientist or software engineer) building AI-based products
- Hands-on experience fine-tuning LLMs and implementing advanced RAG or agentic systems
- Strong Python coding skills and experience with PyTorch for deep learning
- Proven experience building and deploying LLM or NLP applications with API integration
- Experience with agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain) and vector databases
- Deep understanding of machine learning and LLM concepts and algorithms
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Fluent English communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Open-source contributions in the LLM space
- Prior experience as a Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Product Manager
