AI Solutions Engineer

About the Role

Chainguard is building AI capabilities across the organization, and we're hiring an AI Solutions Engineer to drive that transformation through hands-on prototyping and internal deployment. This role bridges consulting and engineering: you'll identify high-impact opportunities where AI can improve revenue, efficiency, and quality, then build working prototypes that validate those opportunities using established security and legal pathways.

Responsibilities

• Conduct listening tours and assessments across functions to identify workflows where AI can deliver outsized impact, prioritizing opportunities by feasibility and business value.
• Prototype and validate use cases end-to-end—building internal workflow automations, prompt systems, AI-enabled assistants, and integrations using tools like Claude Code, the Anthropic API, Glean, and common SaaS platforms.
• Partner directly with functional owners, the AI Enablement Council, and AI Ambassadors to understand workflow needs, test assumptions, and build the business case for broader investment.
• Build and test using approved tools and established Legal and Security review pathways. Validate outputs, maintain human oversight, and ensure strong data hygiene—no AI tool operates on company, customer, or personal data without clearance.
• Document solutions, problems solved, and lessons learned. Share work through Builder Hours, demos, and showcases. Surface recurring technical needs back to stakeholders for scaling.
• Model responsible, high-quality AI development practices so prototypes can be handed off and maintained by functional teams.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years building software, automation, or internal tooling with strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive ambiguous, zero-to-one projects independently.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) in production work and building on LLM APIs—including tool/function calling, agents, prompt engineering, RAG, and patterns like MCP.
• Able to wire together APIs, automations, and integrations across SaaS systems (Slack, Google Workspace, GitHub, Linear) into reliable internal tools and prototypes.
• Comfortable translating non-technical stakeholder needs into shippable prototypes. Can frame problems, size impact, and prioritize by feasibility and business value.
• Programming proficiency in at least one language; strong preference for Go and/or Python.
• Respects security, legal, and data-handling guardrails. Treats responsible AI use as core to the role.
• Strong communication skills, fluent English, and able to work autonomously in a remote, globally distributed team—taking initiative and seeking help proactively.

Nice to Have

• Experience building agent skills, MCP servers, or orchestration and automation frameworks.
• Track record of turning internal workflow ideas into tools that teams actually adopt.
• Background in internal consulting, solutions engineering, or forward-deployed/applied roles.
• Active involvement in the open-source community.
• Interest in software supply chain security, secure SDLC, or responsible AI governance.

Location: United States – Remote
Base Salary: $121,000–$142,000 USD
