The Cardiothoracic Surgery Department offers virtually every type of cardiac surgery, providing caregivers with the opportunity to work in a highly specialized and advanced clinical environment
As an RN, you will work directly with cardiothoracic surgeons and the Cardiac Pre-Op team to help ensure patients are fully cleared and prepared for surgery while delivering an exceptional patient experience
This role serves as the final step in the pre-operative process for cardiac surgery patients.
for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross In areas performing moderate sedation procedures and/or cardiac stress testing, must have current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification within six months of hire One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) Previous RN experience with a strong cardiac care background; CVICU experience Ability to review and interpret patient reports, recognize abnormal findings, and understand pathology outside normal ranges Strong clinical judgment skills with the ability to identify abnormal readings and promptly notify the surgeon when appropriate Experience collaborating with all members of the patient care team throughout the pre-assessment process Ability to thrive in a highly detailed and comprehensive clinical role Demonstrated excellent work ethic, professionalism, and accountability Nursing backgrounds include CVICU and Cardiac Stepdown units; candidates with extensive ICU and/or HVTI experience Physical Requirements: Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects
Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible
