 Department Details The 2 West Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) specializes in the care of patients with epilepsy and seizure disorders
The EMU is a highly specialized unit where patients are electively admitted and monitored continuously, 24 hours a day, for up to five consecutive days Using advanced monitoring technology and a multidisciplinary approach, our team works to safely capture and evaluate seizure activity to help guide diagnosis and treatment
The primary goal of the EMU is to capture events in a controlled and safe environment During their stay, patients may have anti-seizure medications adjusted or temporarily discontinued under close medical supervision
