 Department Details Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant Supports a more integrated, resident-centered approach to maintaining independence and daily functioning Allows restorative interventions to be naturally incorporated into residents’ daily routines and programming Aligns restorative programming with quality of life, engagement, and functional maintenance goals Provides structured, consistent restorative support while maintaining clear role expectations and accountability Summary The restorative nursing aide serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care
Uses appropriate mobility, balance and strengthening exercises, incorporating into therapeutic activities Includes using adaptive equipment, fall prevention, appropriate turning, positioning and repositioning techniques, basic range of motion exercises, and good body mechanics.
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required Minimum age of 16 Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing Completion of a C.NA training program, training if required by state and at least 40 hours of specific training related to restorative care procedures (may be provided by licensed therapists providing service within the organization)
Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver’s license
