Job Description

About the position

This is a triage nurse for the outpatient adult hematology, medical oncology, and BMT departments, managing patient phone calls, critical labs, inbasket messages, and secure chat messages for patients in the west region.

cancer using the latest technologies and treatments including gene sequencing of tumors, targeted therapy and advanced oncology surgery techniques We use a team approach to care, bringing together different areas of expertise that specialize in any type of cancer

Scope of work Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan

Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health

Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Required Associates Degree Nursing Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program Required LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required CRT-Oncology Nursing Society - ONCC Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certificate course completion required for RNs working in departments where chemotherapy/immunotherapy is administered. Radiation Therapy certificate course is required for RNs working in radiation departments.
  • 1 Year required CRT-Oncology Certified Nurse - ONCC Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation OCN Certification (or other applicable Oncology specialty/leadership certification) preferred.
