 Job Details Under the general direction of the Director, Quality & Safety, the Registered Nurse, Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist II will originate, facilitate, and expedite improvement efforts and education targeted at quality, patient safety, High Reliability Organization (HRO) initiatives, and process improvement activities that support departmental and organizational goals.
Registered Nurse, Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist II Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 1 day working from home per week Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist II (Professional P2) Job Summary The Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist II independently supports moderately complex quality improvement initiatives and performance monitoring activities
This role analyzes clinical and operational data, supports multidisciplinary teams, and contributes to improvement efforts aligned with accreditation, regulatory, and public reporting requirements
The Specialist II applies established quality improvement methodologies to drive measurable improvements within defined scopes Work is performed with general supervision and increasing professional judgment.
• Independently analyzes clinical and performance data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. • Supports or leads components of quality improvement projects using established methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and PDSA cycles. • Develops and maintains dashboards and reports supporting internal monitoring and public reporting requirements (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission). • Collaborates with clinical, operational, and quality stakeholders to interpret data and support implementation of improvement interventions
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) • Practical knowledge of quality improvement, performance management, and patient safety concepts. • Ability to manage multiple moderately complex projects simultaneously. • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting tools, and data visualization techniques. • Effective communication skills to explain data findings and recommendations to diverse audiences
Minimum Education & Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree Experience: Professional experience in quality improvement, performance improvement, or healthcare analytics
Minimum Certifications / Registration / Licensure • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ): Preferred. • Clinical licensure (RN, RRT, RD, etc.): Preferred, not required
Decision-Making Authority Exercises professional judgment within established policies, procedures, and project frameworks; escalates complex or novel issues as appropriate
Supervisory Responsibilities May provide guidance or assistance to entry-level Specialists; no formal supervisory responsibility Degree of Supervision Received General supervision; work is reviewed periodically with emphasis on outcomes and quality of work
