The Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals with wounds and skin integrity concerns.

Responsibilities

  • include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating advanced wound care treatments while promoting optimal healing outcomes. The RN serves as a clinical expert and resource for colleagues and applies sound nursing judgment when triaging, responding to, and returning patient calls related to direct patient care. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Possesses knowledge and understanding of assessment and use of equipment such as handheld doppler, cast removal saw and negative wound pressure therapy equipment. • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of wounds, treatments, interventions and expected outcomes • Participates in new programs and treatment options as developed • Possesses knowledge of offloading and interventions related to wound healing • Verbalizes knowledge of underlying comorbidities and how they affect wound healing • Possesses knowledge of compression therapy and demonstrates the use of compression related to wound healing • Serves as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for team members, providing guidance and support to promote high-quality patient care. • Responds promptly to patient communications, ensuring complete and accurate information is documented and routed to the appropriate individual for follow-up. • Demonstrates competency in patient assessment, treatment interventions, age-specific care, growth and development considerations, and effective communication techniques appropriate to the patient population served. • Identifies opportunities for the development and implementation of nurse-driven protocols in collaboration with providers to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency. • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit for up to 2 hours per day (up to 1 hour continuously), stand for up to 8 hours per day (up to 4 hours continuously), and walk for up to 6 hours per day (up to 50 minutes continuously). Requires the ability to lift, carry, and push items weighing up to 75 pounds and to assist in the transport of patients weighing up to 400 pounds via wheelchair, bed, and/or stretcher, with assistance as appropriate.
  • Must be able to pull up to 10 pounds independently and frequently pull up to 250 pounds with assistance when appropriate. The position requires the ability to perform a full range of physical movements, including stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and reaching above shoulder level. Candidates must possess sufficient manual dexterity and tactile sensitivity to perceive and manipulate objects through touch, including the ability to firmly grasp, twist, and turn objects using the hands and fingers. Must have adequate auditory ability to hear and distinguish sounds across normal high- and low-frequency ranges. Visual capabilities must include color discrimination, peripheral vision, depth perception, and sustained visual focus for tasks such as working with computer screens and reviewing clinical documentation.

Education

Must possess a current RN license in the state where services are provided BLS/CPR certification is required within 60 days of employment and must remain active as a condition of continued employment

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years nursing experience with direct, hands-on patient care required Wound care, home health, rehabilitation, burn or critical care experience preferred
