Job Description

Position Title Perioperative Nurse Liaison (RN)- Education Cardiothoracic Clinic Days - Full Time Bell Hospital Position Summary / Career Interest: The CTS (cardiothoracic surgery) Preoperative Nurse Educator role focuses on providing education and support to patients preparing for cardiothoracic surgery

As a CTS Preoperative Nurse Educator, you have the opportunity to spend dedicated one-on-one time with patients and their families, ensuring they understand their upcoming procedure, preoperative medication instructions and holds, and what to expect throughout their surgical journey.

Education

includes preparing patients for their ICU stay immediately after surgery, their recovery on the Step-Down Unit, and the overall postoperative process. This role allows for meaningful patient interaction, helping to reduce anxiety, improve understanding, and promote a smoother surgical and recovery experience.

Responsibilities

  • and Essential Job Functions Changes culture to one that is family centered and customer friendly throughout the surgical process. Integrates and trains staff in appropriate department/service for an additional support to patients and their families preoperatively, and postoperatively. Promotes Hospital Services through communication with staff surgeon, OR personnel, patient, and patient family/significant other during the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of the surgical experience. Training and education of staff for identification of psycho-social needs of patient’s family/significant other’s during the Perioperative period both within and outside the Perioperative division.

Required Education and Experience High School Graduate Associate Degree Nursing Nurses hired after September 1, 2026, without a BSN will be required to sign an ADN-to-BSN agreement at the time of hire and must complete a BSN degree by the fifth anniversary of hire into this role.
