Job Description

  • Job Title: Registered Nurse Educator Department: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Location: Rochester General Hospital Hours Per Week: 40 Hours Schedule: Day/Evening SUMMARY As a Registered Nurse – Educator, your in-depth knowledge and outstanding communication skills are key in fostering quality care, enhanced wellness and ongoing growth and development throughout Rochester Regional. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) offers 14 private rooms, and combines the comforts of home with state-of-the-art technology. As a Level II NICU, we offer babies and their families advanced newborn care. Sometimes called a special care nursery, we tend to babies born at 32 weeks, those with jaundice or apnea, or those who are recovering after spending time in a Level III or Level IV NICU RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluation. Identify and validate the learning needs of customers by utilizing needs assessments, CQI results, performance improvement results, customer surveys and course evaluation results; document the effectiveness of educational offerings by developing, monitoring and assessing competencies; analyze cost to maximize the efficient utilization of resources Development. Create educational programs and curriculum that promote quality healthcare, employee/patient growth and personal wellness; provide leadership in areas of expertise as a resource to the customer; develop communications and audio-visual materials that are clear and concise Implementation.
  • Facilitate programs to meet the identified learning needs of our customers; provide in-depth orientation, in-service and continuing education for staff or patients COMPLIANCE: Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year. Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in nursing, health education, or instructional development or An equivalent combination of education and healthcare related work experience will be considered. Registered Nurse license in New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years prior training/teaching experience in related educational field.

  • At least 6 months acute care experience preferred EDUCATION: BS: Health Education, BS: Nursing (Required) LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of Professions PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light - Clinical - Light clinical roles involve frequent standing and walking, with occasional lifting of light objects (≤20 lbs.) and routine reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation for tasks such as patient care, laboratory work, or specimen processing. Staff rely on strong visual and auditory acuity to accurately observe specimens, read instrumentation, monitor patients, respond to alarms, and communicate effectively with care teams. Cognitive demands include multitasking, prioritizing clinical and laboratory workflows, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. Emotional resilience is necessary due to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and the need for precise and compassionate interaction with patients and colleagues. Environmental exposures may include infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, chemical reagents, and wet surfaces. PPE use, TB testing, and schedule flexibility are commonly required. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $82,742.00 - $113,568.00 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14621 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
