Clinical Specialist, Registered Nurse (RN), Psych (Full-Time, Days)

Job Title: Clinical Specialist - Psych, Registered Nurse Department: Community Home Health Location: Rochester Regional Health, 330 Monroe Ave, Rochester NY Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm SUMMARY: The Clinical Specialist - Psych is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of Psychiatric programs, and staff education in the care of patients in need of psychiatric nursing services

This responsibility includes participation in the screening of applicants, orientation, education, and evaluation of specialty nursing staff, when appropriate Also, the incumbent will ensure that quality patient care is delivered efficiently, and provides clinical nursing leadership in area of specialty.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation to the clinical staff who participates in the delivery of care to patients with needs for psychiatric evaluation and/or treatment. • Participates in the development and maintenance of current operational policies and procedures related to Psychiatric programs. • Participates in the selection of nursing specialty candidates for employment as Psychiatric nursing specialists when indicated. • Assumes major responsibility for development and implementation of orientation, education, and training activities regarding the care of the patients with identified psychiatric needs. • Collaborates with the Quality Management staff to design, monitor, and evaluate the continuous quality improvement process in addition to risk management components of the clinical program. Identifies and designs actions plans as indicated in response to data generated from the continuous quality improvement program and clinical observations. • Act as liaison with the medical community at large regarding Psychiatric Nursing programs. • Perform direct care and documentation for select patients and caregivers that require specialist expertise and meets specified productivity. • Maintains current clinical knowledge in areas of Psychiatric Nursing. • Participates in committees that are assigned. • Manage and evaluate the care deficit in complex cases. • Consult with staff and clients on ethical issues related to treatment and self-determinism. • Participates in the development of multidisciplinary plans of care for individual patients upon request of the team manager and when barriers to access and utilization are detected. • Assists team supervisors in identifying those patients on their teams who could benefit from Psychiatric nurse internal referrals. • Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies’ mission and values and adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct. • Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures. • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required. • Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required. • A minimum of 6 months of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. • Interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. • Basic computer skills, including but not limited to the ability to navigate on a personal computer within a Windows based operating environment; the ability to access and create basic e-mail messages; and the ability to open, edit, and save basic electronic documents if necessary. • With training provided, can demonstrate the ability to learn and utilize new systems, computer applications and operating environments as necessary. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: • Active NYS RN licensure required. • Valid NYS driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements

Light - Clinical - Light clinical roles involve frequent standing and walking, with occasional lifting of light objects (≤20 lbs.) and routine reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation for tasks such as patient care, laboratory work, or specimen processing

Staff rely on strong visual and auditory acuity to accurately observe specimens, read instrumentation, monitor patients, respond to alarms, and communicate effectively with care teams

Cognitive demands include multitasking, prioritizing clinical and laboratory workflows, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams Emotional resilience is necessary due to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and the need for precise and compassionate interaction with patients and colleagues

Environmental exposures may include infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, chemical reagents, and wet surfaces PPE use, TB testing, and schedule flexibility are commonly required

It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts
