Job Title: Registered Nurse Department: Emergency Department Location: Massena Hospital Hours Per Week: 16 scheduled weekly hours Schedule: Rotating shifts of 4, 8 and 12-hours , every other weekend required SUMMARY: The registered nurse provides assessment, care planning and direct delivery of treatment utilizing professional nursing care processes in a patient and family centered manner in accordance with licensure and regulatory scope and standards, and established hospital policies, procedures and protocols.
Performs a comprehensive patient assessment to identify patient and family needs Develops and implements a comprehensive plan of care involving the patient and the family
Performs and documents direct patient and family centered care and patient education according to nursing standards of practice Identifies and responds to patient conditions to achieve positive patient outcomes
Performs discharge planning to ensure safe and appropriate transition of care Directs and delegates care provided by unlicensed team members Provides world class customer service to patients and families. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited nursing school program Current, unrestricted New York State registered professional nursing license; AHA BLS upon hire PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: BSN from an accredited nursing school program National Certification TNCC, PALS certification preferred UNION: NYSNA (MH) Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning
Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns
Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation
TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements
