Certified Nurse Aide - Canton - Potsdam Hospital

Job Title: Certified Nurse Aide Department: Med-Surg West 2 Location: Canton-Potsdam Hospital Hours Per Week: 22.5 Schedule: 3p-11p, every other weekend, evening SUMMARY: The Certified Nurse Aid works under the direct supervision of licensed nursing staff to provide direct patient care in accordance with established hospital policies, procedures and protocols.

Responsibilities

Performs and documents direct comprehensive, family and patient centered care under the direct supervision of licensed nursing staff Provides world class customer service to patients and families

Reports patient conditions directly to licensed nursing staff to achieve positive patient outcomes Maintains a safe and clean patient and family centered environment.

Required Qualifications

High School Education or GED NYS Nurse Aid Certification or successful completion of Nursing 101 course American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (AHA BLS) UNION: 1199 SEIU (CPH) Service, Maintenance & Clerical Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Physical Requirements

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning

Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns

Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation

TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements
