Home Health Aide (HHA) Trainee - Paid Training

Job Title: Home Health Aide Paid Trainee Department: Home Care Location: Monroe County, In the community Hours Per Week : 40 Schedule : Monday - Friday; Days, 9am-5pm WHAT A HOME HEALTH AIDE DOES: Provides assistance in participants daily routine, activities and personal care at their place of residence

OUR TRAINING PROGRAM: Program Participation - Actively participate in class reading, discussion and written course work Verified Skill - Skillfully and safely perform all activities listed on the home health aide competency test

Demonstrate Knowledge - Score 80% or higher on the Home Health Aide quizzes and exams Mandatory Attendance - Punctually attend all required training classes and clinical orientations.

Required Qualifications

• NYS DL - valid New York State Drivers License - New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV) (not required for ElderONE) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: One (1) to two (2) years of direct patient care experience preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to meet physical demands, such as continuous standing or walking and lifting weight up to 35 lbs. Strong computer skills preferred.

Education

• LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: NYS DL - valid New York State Driver's License - New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Drive - Clinical - Roles in this category require frequent driving combined with mobile clinical care across settings such as emergency response, mobile clinics, and home health environments. Staff must repeatedly enter and exit vehicles, occasionally lift and carry equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. or more, and perform care within patients’ homes or other confined, unpredictable, or uncontrolled environments. These positions demand strong fine and gross motor control, firm grasping, and heightened visual and auditory awareness to ensure safe and effective care delivery. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial due to rapid decision‑making, direct exposure to critical or sensitive situations, and independently managing patient care in the field or home setting. Environmental exposures may include traffic hazards, infectious agents, extreme temperatures, variable home conditions, and hazardous materials.
• Valid licensure, physical readiness, and flexibility for extended or on‑call schedules are typically required. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $18.65 - $18.65 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14607 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
