A Brief Overview This Per Diem-RN position requires 12 months of previous Pediatric RN work experience Our 34-bed unit specializes in the care of patients of all ages with pulmonary and complex medical needs, many of whom are technology-dependent
A significant portion of our patient population has compromised lung function from birth, often due to prematurity and other co-morbidities, including neurologic and developmental challenges
Our complex care population consists of a specialized group of patients requiring coordinated care across multiple consulting services These patients often have longer stays or return to our unit intermittently throughout their lives
In addition, we provide care for general pediatric patients with a range of medical conditions Our goal is to provide high-quality, patient and family centered care to all

Maintenance of all competencies and required educational programs relevant to the unit patient population is required UP2 Clinical Nurses practice as Clinical Nurses in accordance with the following, which is consistent for all RNs with this job title: The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model
The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients and families and progresses to caring for those with the most complex problems/highest acuity in the designated clinical area
Provides age/developmentally appropriate care Care is delivered through RN leadership for patient care within the framework of family-centered care The Clinical Nurse adheres to the organizational and nursing department mission, vision, and values
S/he practices in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics; the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice; practice standards of applicable specialty nursing organizations; and CHOP developed standards of nursing practice
The professional nurse practices within the defined scope of practice designated by the Nurse Practice Acts of Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey, depending on the assigned work site.
Technical Diploma Nursing - Required Bachelors Degree Nursing - Preferred Experience Qualifications At least one (1) year pediatric nursing experience - Required or At least one (1) year psychiatric nursing experience - Required Skills and Abilities Computer Competency Basic use of a computer (mouse, keyboard, printer, USB ports). (Required proficiency) Basic use of Microsoft Office (Word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and Skype). (Required proficiency) Web browsing, intranet search, document access. (Required proficiency) Use of shared network file space. (Required proficiency) Basic use of patient facing technology. (e.g. IV pumps, point of care devices, CR monitors).
