 Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients as appropriate to service area

Admission and ongoing assessments are completed, documented and used to develop a plan of care Collaborates with members of the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate interdisciplinary plan of care

Revises plan according to changes in patient status Administers treatments and medications for patients and documents utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records

Identifies patient/family (caregiver) educational needs, incorporates into care plan Contributes to Carilion Clinic’s performance improvement activities Supports the patient as patient advocate, protector of patient’s rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support

Facilitates resolution between patient and staff if needed. ​Determines and performs within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to support (direct/indirect) evidenced based, quality patient care service and performance improvement

Utilizes clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances Strategizes to reduce patient length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve patient outcomes.

Functions

as role model for clinical practice to coworker, students, and physicians Manages resources, establishes priorities, and modifies environment to meet patient care needs

Orientes new employees Provides feedback to staff Provides input into practice, environment, and work issues by participating on unit, hospital, and/or system activities which facilitates staff participation/input in decision making

Assists with providing education activities for unit/department. 

 What We Require:

Education

Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required Experience: None Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records

For Behavioral Health roles, de-escalation training must be completed within 1 year of hire and maintained For OB/GYN roles, EFM NCC certification required per department policy

Career Advancement Program: RNs are eligible to participate in the Career Advancement Program (CAP) to attain various levels of advancement based on performance criteria

 Compensation Range: $33.52 - $50.28 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience

The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
