For over a century, we’ve served the health care needs of the people of Memphis and the Mid-South The Heart Transplant & VAD Coordinator works under the general supervision of the Senior Director, Inpatient Nursing and is responsible for coordinating and providing multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient services to transplant and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) patients and families

A Brief Overview The Heart Transplant & VAD Coordinator works under the general supervision of the Senior Director, Inpatient Nursing and is responsible for coordinating and providing multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient services to transplant and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) patients and families

Coordinates all phases of VAD implantation and heart transplantation Provides overall coordination for the multidisciplinary team involved in VAD implantation and heart transplantation
Assures appropriate care during and after VAD implantation and heart transplantation Implements and directs programs directly related to VADs and Heart Transplant
Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development, clinical competency, and knowledge of new departments, treatments, and procedures.
/Formal Training Requirements Required - Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred - Master's Degree Nursing Work Experience Requirements Required - Clinical experience or direct patient care. 3-5 years Licenses and Certifications Requirements Required - Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to handle and administer narcotics as needed. Ability to read and write to communicate orally and in writing with other individuals. Supervision Provided by this Position Reports to the Senior Director, Inpatient Nursing.
Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.Provides 24/7 coverage for VAD and heart transplant patients and services. Exposure to body fluids and to hazardous or poisonous materials.
