Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Post - Purchase International)

About the Role

Affirm is reinventing credit through honest, flexible buy-now-pay-later solutions without hidden fees or compounding interest. The Servicing International team is building foundational platform infrastructure to expand Affirm's products into new international markets, with this role focusing on purchase protection, disputes, and refunds—critical components of the user journey and areas of significant investment.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, guiding engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems while ensuring support throughout execution
• Collaborate across product development by working with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, articulating technical constraints, and evaluating risks and trade-offs
• Proactively identify and advocate for solutions to project, process, technology, and business issues
• Support operational excellence and system availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues as needed, and participating in on-call rotations
• Establish and promote quality standards by setting or improving code review and design practices for your team and the broader organization
• Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leadership by example
• Participate in on-call rotation support as a required part of this role

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience
• Proven experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python, Kotlin, or similar backend languages
• Working knowledge of AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• Exposure to building web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue
