Senior Software Engineer, Frontend (Trust & Safety)

The Trust & Safety Experience team owns customer journeys during authentication, verification, and fraud prevention. In this role, you'll contribute across the full stack—backend, web, and mobile interfaces—delivering high-availability, low-latency systems that Affirm customers depend on daily.

About the Role

This is a senior frontend engineering position focused on trust and safety user experiences. You'll take ownership of quarterly goals, lead your engineering team through complex problems, and ensure delivery while supporting your peers across product, design, and analytics. You'll drive technical decisions, advocate for process improvements, and maintain operational excellence for your team's systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team; lead engineers through ambiguity on open-ended problems
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and decision-making, articulating technical constraints and weighing risks and trade-offs
• Identify and advocate for solutions to project, process, technology, and business issues
• Support operational availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call rotations
• Build a culture of quality and ownership by setting and improving code review and design standards; share expertise through writing and tech talks
• Develop talent on your team through feedback, guidance, and hands-on mentorship

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Demonstrated experience shipping web and mobile applications using declarative UI frameworks (React, React Native, Vue, or similar)
• Proven ability to define technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, and extensible design
• Proficiency making substantial changes safely in large codebases; experience with tooling and practices that support safe refactoring
• Track record of owning your growth, seeking feedback from peers, managers, and stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting effective global collaboration
