As a Senior Partner Engineer on the Merchant and Platform Engineering team, you'll provide technical leadership to drive revenue growth by helping merchants and partners deliver innovative Buy Now Pay Later checkout experiences. This role bridges engineering and commercial strategy, requiring you to represent Affirm's platform to key partners while collaborating with internal teams on solution design and long-term initiatives.
About the Role
You will serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for partner integrations and cross-functional initiatives. Working with commercial and product partnership teams, you'll support large programs involving partners such as Shopify and Stripe. This position combines technical depth with business acumen—you'll help shape partnership strategy while remaining hands-on with engineering execution and problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans including solution design, timeline estimation, task breakdown, and testing strategies
- Provide technical support and guidance to external partner stakeholders on integration questions and technical challenges
- Create integration support materials and documentation for new products, features, and rollouts
- Act as the escalation point and subject matter expert for internal and external teams resolving technical issues
- Recommend integration strategies, platform evolution approaches, infrastructure solutions, and tooling choices to optimize partner experience
- Evaluate the business-technical intersection between commercial strategy and partnership capabilities
- Develop external-facing documentation that strengthens the overall partner experience
Requirements
- 4+ years in Solutions Engineering, Partner Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Account Management, Solutions Architecture, or similar customer-facing engineering role
- Ability to read and understand multiple programming languages
- Experience with ecommerce technologies and data models
- Knowledge of JSON, HTML, REST APIs, and Webhook technologies
- Familiarity with integrating UX elements with backend services, frameworks, and related concepts
