Senior Partner Engineer

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly. As a Senior Partner Solutions Engineer on the Merchant and Platform Engineering team, you'll provide technical leadership across commercial and product partnerships, representing Affirm's engineering capabilities to key partners like Shopify and Stripe while driving both technical and business strategy.

About the Role

You'll serve as a technical bridge between Affirm's engineering teams and external partners, supporting large cross-functional programs and long-term strategic initiatives. This position combines hands-on engineering collaboration with leadership responsibilities, requiring you to balance ad hoc partner support with strategic technical planning and advocacy for engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive project plans with solution design, timeline estimation, task breakdown, and testing strategies
• Provide ongoing technical support and escalation for partner stakeholder questions and technical challenges
• Create integration support materials and documentation for new products, features, and rollouts
• Function as subject matter expert and escalation point for internal and external teams navigating technical obstacles
• Recommend integration strategies, platform evolution approaches, infrastructure decisions, and tooling selections to optimize partner experience
• Analyze the business-technical intersection between Affirm's commercial strategy and partnership capabilities
• Contribute to development of external documentation that strengthens the overall partnership ecosystem

Requirements

• 4+ years in Solutions Engineering, Partner Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Account Management, Solutions Architecture, or similar customer-facing engineering role
• Ability to read and understand multiple programming languages
• Experience with ecommerce technologies and data models
• Knowledge of JSON, HTML, REST API, and Webhook technologies
• Familiarity with integrating UX elements with backend services and relevant frameworks
