Job Description

Senior Manager, Communications at Affirm leads investor and financial communications strategy, building market credibility through proactive media relations, executive counsel, and narrative development around company milestones and business performance.

About the Role

Affirm has spent nearly 15 years establishing a consumer credit model grounded in transparency—no late fees, clarity before commitment. The role focuses on widening conviction among investors and capital partners who shape how the business is perceived and evaluated in financial and business media.

You'll own the communications narrative to key audiences in business and financial press, building relationships and trust where investment decisions form. You'll ensure each milestone compounds credibility rather than resetting it, maintaining consistent messaging between major announcements and the story in between.

Responsibilities

  • Shape Affirm's presence in business and financial media coverage and market conversation, positioning the company against both legacy credit and newer market entrants
  • Own the narrative connecting company milestones—earnings, funding rounds, partnerships, major business news—to the underlying business model and strategy
  • Partner with Investor Relations, Finance, and Capital Markets to build the case for a business model that grows on consumer success
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business and financial reporters, producers, and podcasters across traditional and emerging media, positioning yourself as a key source
  • Counsel executives and prepare them for media interviews and speaking opportunities, providing messaging strategy and briefing materials
  • Align investor and financial communications with broader company messaging to ensure consistency across all channels

Requirements

  • Established relationships and credibility in business and financial media
  • Strategic instinct for proactive communications and agenda-setting, not reactive management
  • Experience building and maintaining reporter relationships and earning repeat coverage
  • Ability to translate complex financial and business strategy into compelling narratives for external audiences
  • Track record preparing executives for high-stakes media interactions and public speaking
