Affirm is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering for the Repayment UX team, a full-stack engineering group based in Spain and operating within a unified European time zone. The team owns the payment and account management interfaces across Affirm's mobile and web applications, serving over 20 million users who repay more than $40 billion annually. You will lead the technical direction, roadmap execution, and operational reliability of this consumer-critical product surface.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a balanced engineering team, setting clear expectations, delivering direct feedback, and supporting career progression for each engineer
  • Establish and own the team's technical strategy and multi-quarter roadmap, aligned to business initiatives and customer trust
  • Support hands-on technical design, design reviews, and cross-functional alignment with Product, Design, Analytics, and other engineering teams
  • Own system availability, reliability, and performance; manage on-call rotation, incident response, and operational toil reduction
  • Drive delivery velocity by breaking large initiatives into sprint-sized milestones with clear ownership and accountability
  • Empower the tech lead and engineers to maintain design standards and quality bars
  • Guide the team to increase output through focus and leverage, including evaluation of agentic AI tools
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, and team growth; foster a culture centered on ownership, quality, and transparency
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience managing and growing engineering teams
