Affirm is seeking a Financial Model Risk Management Lead to join its Enterprise Risk & Internal Audit department, working remotely across the US. This role serves as a validator and lead challenger of quantitative models used in finance and analytics, functioning as a second line of defense in Affirm's model risk management framework. You will assess, monitor, and report on model risk across the organization while collaborating with technical teams to strengthen governance and controls.
Responsibilities
- Perform independent validation and ongoing monitoring of financial and analytics quantitative models, including asset-liability management (ALM), allowance and loss forecasting, loan transition models, corporate financial planning models, and take-up and engagement models
- Lead end-to-end validation engagements on high-complexity, high-criticality models
- Identify model weaknesses, limitations, and improvement opportunities; communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with model owners and stakeholders across Finance, Quantitative Research, and Growth Analytics to remediate validation findings and strengthen model governance
- Work cross-functionally to implement and maintain the company's model risk management framework
- Partner with Internal Audit, Internal Controls, Accounting, and Compliance to address audit, regulatory, and examiner requests in a timely manner
Requirements
- 4–6 years of professional experience in model development, model validation, quantitative finance, or data analytics with meaningful exposure to financial and/or analytics model validation
- Deep and broad knowledge of corporate finance, treasury, asset-liability management, and/or actuarial and statistical forecasting
- Experience in credit underwriting or credit risk management (preferred)
