Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack (Card Acquisition)

About the Role

Affirm is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Acquisition & Onboarding team within the Consumer organization. This leadership role combines hands-on technical work with strategic direction-setting, where you'll define architecture, mentor senior engineers, and drive technical decisions across mobile (React Native and native), web, and backend systems. You'll shape the critical first-time customer experience—building the trust and clarity that matter most in buy-now-pay-later fintech.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly technical goals for your team and lead engineers through complex, ambiguous problems to delivery
• Collaborate with product, design, and analytics teams across the full development lifecycle—from ideation through launch—while articulating technical constraints and trade-offs
• Establish and maintain operational excellence: design monitoring, triage rotations, runbooks, testing, and alerting strategies; participate in on-call rotations
• Identify and champion solutions for project, process, technology, and business challenges that impact the team and broader organization
• Set and elevate code review and design standards for your team; advocate for quality practices through documentation and technical talks
• Develop talent through constructive feedback, mentorship, and leading by example
• Define long-term technical strategy and make architectural decisions that balance performance, scalability, and user experience

Requirements

• Proven experience leading significant mobile initiatives using React Native or native mobile technologies, including architecture definition and cross-functional launch coordination
• Demonstrated expertise in full stack development across mobile, web, and backend systems
• Track record of mentoring senior-level engineers and driving technical culture
• Strong operational mindset with experience owning service reliability and on-call practices
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders, and balance speed with quality
